Hensoldt's Record Growth and Future Outlook Amid Defense Boom
Hensoldt, a leading European defense electronics company, has reported a strong start to 2025, driven by a global increase in defense spending and European military modernization efforts. In the first quarter, the company achieved a record order intake of 701 million euros, up 5.5% from the previous year, with major contributions from contracts related to the Eurofighter aircraft, boosting the order backlog to a historic 6.929 billion euros. The company's revenue rose by 20% to 395 million euros, primarily fueled by growth in its Optronics segment, which increased sales by 34%. Despite a slight decrease in EBITDA to 30 million euros, the company remains optimistic about its future, reaffirming its revenue target of 2.5 to 2.6 billion euros for 2025 and aiming for a profit margin of around 18%. Hensoldt has successfully completed a refinancing process, enhancing its financial stability and independence. CEO Oliver Dörre highlighted geopolitical tensions, such as the Ukraine conflict and increased NATO defense budgets, as key drivers for sustained demand. The company expects continued growth, supported by investments in digital and networked defense solutions, with a strategic goal to increase revenue to up to six billion euros by 2030.
