Apple to Pay $95M in Siri Privacy Settlement: How to Claim Your Payout
Apple has reached a $95 million settlement in a class-action lawsuit accusing the company of secretly recording private conversations through Siri without user consent. The lawsuit, Lopez v. Apple, was filed in 2021 in California, with plaintiffs alleging Siri activated unintentionally during confidential conversations from September 2014 to December 2024, and shared recordings with third parties leading to targeted advertising. Apple denies the allegations but has agreed to the settlement. Eligible users who owned Siri-enabled devices such as iPhones, iPads, Apple Watches, MacBooks, iMacs, HomePods, iPod touches, and Apple TVs can file claims online before the deadline of July 2, 2025. Payments are capped at $20 per device, with a maximum of $100 for five devices. The final settlement hearing is scheduled for August 1, after which payments will be processed.
